Maestrat Global, a geotechnical and quality control laboratory.

(Before)
The previous website was an old WordPress site, served without valid HTTPS, with services that were no longer offered, versions in other languages that were not maintained and test content still published. On top of that, the hosting was due to be shut down in mid-August.
(During)
We archived the entire old website before the shutdown and designed a new one centred on its four areas: geotechnics, quality control, acoustics and energy efficiency. We moved the domain to Cloudflare, set up the redirects one by one and regained access to Search Console.
(After)
A fast, secure website, with each service on its own page and the accreditations clearly displayed, launched on time and with Google already crawling the new version.

The challenge

Maestrat Global is a geotechnical and quality control laboratory with offices in Castellón and Paterna, operating since 2007. It works for construction projects and engineering firms, where clients choose a laboratory based on technical trust: accreditations, equipment and procedures.

The previous website did not convey that, and it also had an expiry date: the hosting provider was going to shut it down in August 2026. The migration had to go right first time.

Structure decisions

One page per service area. Geotechnical studies, quality control, acoustics and energy efficiency, each with its own tests and answering what people look for when they commission that work.

Accreditations front and centre. A dedicated page for certifications, with the registration in the General Register of the Technical Building Code (Registro General del Código Técnico de la Edificación).

Two offices, no unnecessary cookies. Castellón and Paterna in the footer, with maps that only load if the visitor consents. The website does not use cookie-based analytics.

Only confirmed information. The copy and the company’s structured data only include what the client has verified.

A migration without surprises

  • A full copy of the old website before the shutdown: 37 pages and 94 files, including images, PDFs and video.
  • 301 redirects one by one to their new equivalents. What no longer exists, such as services that are no longer offered or unmaintained languages, returns a 410 code instead of sending everything to the home page.
  • Domain on Cloudflare with valid HTTPS and a single canonical version, with “www”.
  • Search Console access regained: a sitemap from 2012 was removed and the new one was submitted.

This is the process we explain in the guide to changing your website without losing rankings.

Technical details

Custom-coded website (Astro) on Cloudflare. In the Lighthouse audit before launch it scored 98 for performance and 100 for accessibility, best practices and SEO. The link to the client area, which depends on their laboratory software provider, will not be published until it supports HTTPS and secure sessions.
