Your message to ask for or reply to a review, ready to send
Choose your sector and channel, and copy a message that offers nothing, does not ask for stars and does not reveal anyone’s data. The templates, and the reasons behind them, are in our guide to getting Google reviews.
What must go in and what must stay out
The Google Maps content policy prohibits offering incentives in exchange for reviews, asking only some clients for positive reviews and pressuring people to write them. None of these messages does any of that.
When you reply, the law recognises your right to do so through the same channel (art. 20.4 of the Consumer Protection Law, or Ley de Consumidores), but not to use the client’s data. That is why the replies are short, signed and without a single detail about the reviewer.
The text in square brackets is for you to change. If you think a review breaks the policies, the decision map for reporting it is in the reviews guide.
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to what people ask us before we start.
Do these messages comply with Google’s policies?
They are the templates from our reviews guide, written with the Google Maps content policy in mind: they offer nothing, do not ask for stars or particular words, and work just as well for a happy client as for an unhappy one. What also counts is how you use them: with every client and at a fixed point in the process.
Why does it keep mentioning 30 days?
Because of Law 10/2025 (Ley 10/2025). Since then, article 20.4 of the Consumer Protection Law (Ley de Consumidores) has required reviews to refer to services bought or used in the previous 30 calendar days. The cautious approach is to ask for the review within that period, not to write to your whole client base at once.
Why does a law firm or a clinic always reply the same way?
Because confirming in public that someone is or has been a client or patient already reveals information protected by professional secrecy or by medical confidentiality. That is why the reply is the same whatever the rating, and it offers a private channel.
Can I ask owners in the associations I manage for reviews on WhatsApp?
To be cautious, no. The Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) considers that the data you handle on behalf of the owners’ association (comunidad de propietarios) is for managing it, not for advertising. Put the link or the QR code in your email signature, your private client area and your office.
Do you store what I write?
No. The messages are generated in your browser. If you accept analytics, we only record that you have used the tool, never what you write.
Shall we set up a review system for your business?
A well-maintained Google Business Profile, a fixed moment to ask for the review and replies that do not compromise you. Part of our local SEO service.
